Welcome to my website! This resource explores the essential role of health, safety, and nutrition in licensed child care settings. It highlights key practices that help create safe, healthy, and supportive environments where children can learn, grow, and thrive.
My name is Sandeep Kaur and I am studying at Humber College in the field of Early Childhood Education. I will soon be a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE). It is my desire and passion to create safe and welcoming spaces in the Early Years sector that are built on and promote the values of child safety and empowerment. I believe that the emotional and psychological well-being of a child is the foundation of all learning. In partnership with families and the wider community, I believe we can build and promote the values of safety and holistic growth and empowerment.
My core thinking
My vision as a future educator is to work in a calm and safe child care center setting. Such a setting would enable me
to support children’s learning and growth in a supportive environment where children know that they belong. My
vision for the center where I would like to work is to follow the guidelines set out in the Child Care and Early Years
Act, as well as the health and safety guidelines set out by Toronto Public Health. Additionally, I intend to follow the
guidelines for healthy eating as set out in Canada’s Food Guide in order to support the children’s healthy
development in the child care center.
Purpose of the Website
This website was created in order to share the information gathered
throughout the semester with families in order to support children’s illness prevention, safety, nutrition and healthy
development in licensed child care settings. The health, safety, nutrition information, along with the daily routines
and forms completed by educators in child care settings, will provide families with an understanding of why certain
practices are implemented in order to support children’s development.
